A TALE OF LOVE, GIN &… WIGS?!

by | Aug 23, 2021 | Events, Party Planning, Queen Cleo

Here at the Little Gin & Rum Company we’re not afraid to say we still get teary eyed at wedding ceremonies, even after all these years! There are always some ceremonies that stick in our minds and Jason and Geraint’s was one of those. As real gin lovers, the couple were keen to have a ginny-spin on their big day and so hired our trailer to ensure their guests could experience their passion for a damn good G&T first hand! The couple had such a lovely time hanging out at the trailer that they decided to hire a pop-up bar for Jason’s 50th party – a wig party none the less! We got in touch with Jason to chat all things gin, wedding and wigs!
A TALE OF LOVE, GIN &... WIGS?!

Tell us a little bit about you and your partner – where are you from, what do you do, and what do you do in your spare time?

We are both healthcare workers who trained in London and moved to Oxford for work in 2010. As a distraction from work we enjoy gardening, photography, travel and studying Japanese. I developed a taste for gin after my friend Brent taught me that the perfect gin and tonic is all about proportion. Gin has been our favourite spirit ever since.

What was it about The Little Gin & Rum Company that made you choose us for your big day?

We love gin and when searching for wedding options I came across The Little Gin & Rum Company and knew immediately that it would be perfect for our wedding day. The comprehensive service and set up gave us the opportunity to completely relax about our guests having lots of options for drinks throughout the day.

You recently chose to have us back again for birthday celebrations – what made you choose us again?

Our experience with The Little Gin & Rum Company on our wedding day was so positive in terms of our experience and that of our guests, it seemed the obvious choice for my 50th birthday wig party.

What was your favourite part about hiring the Gin trailer for your wedding and birthday party?

The fact that the Little Gin & Rum Company offer the ability to have a tailor made gin selection was important. We have strong views about which gins we like personally and it was nice to work those into the menu. Staff were really helpful and brilliant with our guests.

How would you recommend The Little Gin & Rum Company to a couple who might be undecided about whether a gin bar is best for their big day?

Great service, good value for money, freedom to select gins and the ability to completely relax about the bar service on the day.

If you were to recommend us to your best friend, what would you say?

Just book it!

What’s your favourite Queen Cleo spirit, and how do you take it?

My favourite is Old Tom gin with ginger ale and a lime wedge and Geraint’s is the Rhubarb gin and tonic with orange garnish.

Thanks to Jason and Geraint for allowing us to be part of their big day, and for asking us back to celebrate Jason’s 50th – we had a blast!

HERE’S OUR STORY

After 4 years of being together we never thought that we would one day be in business together. Who knew where a simple text message could lead….

It all started with a conversation with Nicola at one of The Little Gin and Rum Company’s events in Leeds. Amy sent a message to Ian saying “Do you fancy buying a gin and rum company?” and the wheels were set in motion.

OUR BACKGROUND

IAN:

“As a sales professional travelling the UK and the world, I have made travelling and alcohol my thing.  With over 20 years experience supplying the hospitality industry with software and e-learning, I can’t wait to start sharing Queen Cleo Spirits with the industry I love.  You’ll usually find me with my favourite Queen Cleo Rum with ginger ale.”

AMY:

“Where Ian loves sales, I love marketing and as a digital marketing trainer and professional public speaker, I always have a lot to say.  When Nicola and Emma started virtual events in lockdown, I jumped at the opportunity to talk about gin and rum and nearly 200 events later, I still love it.  Old Tom is my favourite tipple and I’ll even drink it neat with just a cube of ice and a squeeze of lime.”

THE FUTURE

Nicola and Emma have created a gin and rum legacy and we are honoured to take it into the future.

We can’t wait to share our plans with you and we promise to make Queen Cleo proud.

You know our favourite Queen Cleo drinks and we’d love to know yours.  Share them with us on Instagram #littleginandrumco.
